why choose a credentialed and Licensed expert?
Did you know that nurses, physical therapists, doctors and other health providers are required to have a license to provide their services?
It is no different for nutrition service providers. Anyone can call themselves a nutritionist, but only credentialed and licensed dietitians can legally practice dietetics - that is, provide nutrition advice and related services - in the state of Texas. The Texas Department of State Health Examiners issues licenses through the Texas State Board of Examiners of Dietitians. Learn more about licensure requirements for the State of Texas.
People may have great intentions when they provide you nutrition advice and genuinely want to help you. But, unless they meet these requirements, their services may do more harm than good. Licensure prevents people who claim to be a qualified health provider in their area of practice, but do not meet these requirements, from harming the public.
Before you work with a health professional, ask about their credentials and license. You can also ask to see a copy. Licensed professionals are required to display their license in their office and show their license upon request.
